Looking for a high-note to end you upcoming weekend? Here are two wonderful ideas. Only problem: You'll have to pick just one.
Lake Chabot Trail Challenge
Hosted by the Castro Valley Track Club, the Lake Chabot Trail Challenge offers a half-marathon and 5k through the Anthony Chabot Regional Park. The club boasts that the half-marathon route was named one of the 10 most scenic trail races in the U.S. by Trail Runner Magazine, and judging by the photo above, we're inclined to believe it.
Both races start at 8 a.m. Sunday, June 7, are quite hilly and mainly stick to fire roads. Half-marathoners will circle the lake, and look down upon the water, rolling green hills and eucalyptus groves. But don't let the scenery slow you down; you'll have 3.5 hours max to finish the route.
Sold? Register now before the prices increase. The half-marathon is $50 now and $65 after June 5, while the 5k is $30 now and $45 after the 5th.
Looking for something a little less... sweaty? Then consider the SF Beret Baguette Ride. Melissa of Bike Pretty is leading a group of gorgeous San Francisco bikers from Dolores Park to Golden Gate Park for a Parisian picnic. Grab a beret and baguette, and meet the crew at 11 a.m. for this care-free ride. Vin will be provided at the finish! Not quite sure what to wear, check out the Bike Pretty blog for inspiration.
