One springtime cocktail to rule them all - the Bourbon Bloom

Delight in the many splendors of spring. Greenery at every turn, flowers beaming up at you, sizable tax returns. Times are good. We're celebrating our rise from hibernation with the simple and elegant Bourbon Bloom

Bourbon Bloom

  • 1-1/4 oz bourbon
  • 1/2 oz St-Germain elderflower liqueur
  • 1/2 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/4 oz simple syrup
  • 2 dashes Angostura orange bitters

Shake all ingredients in an ice filled shaker, strain up into a chilled sugar rimmed Martini or cocktail glass glass with a lemon twist rose. Instructions:

Make the lemon rose: Using a vegetable peeler, or paring knife, peel an entire lemon, keeping the peel in one long piece. Two long peels can work also. Avoid too much pith on your peel. Remove your cocktail glass from the freezer and give it a sugar rim (optional). Tightly wind the lemon peel into a spiral. You will see that it has the appearance of a flowering rose. Drop this in the bottom of your cocktail glass and return to the freezer.
